Jackson Family Reads
Dear Jackson Families,
We have launched our Fall Jackson Family Reads event. We are excited to embark on this literary adventure together as a school community. Our hope is for you as a family is to take some time out from the busyness of life, read together and get creative together. Ties will be made with the book at school as well.
At Meet the Teacher, each family received a copy of Wishtree by Katherine Applegate. If you weren’t able to make it, you can expect your copy to come home with one of your kids within the next couple of school days. Jackson staff members are in the process of recording their chapters for our audiobook version. These will be posted on our school website shortly – keep checking back in.
Here’s how it works:
From now until the end of November, each week you will receive an email with an activity to do as a family -- it's not necessary to do them that night, but ideally it is done before the following week. Some weeks there will be a creative task that can be brought into school. We will be updating our hallway bulletin board each time there is a creative task. Other weeks it is simply a talking topic - have some fun! This isn't meant to be onerous but rather an enjoyable time set aside together as a family. You are welcome to read the book at your own pace, however new audiobook chapters will be updated each week and posted on our school website, with the goal of reading about 3-5 chapters weekly.
Feel free to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher if you have any questions.
If you are picking up your kids this week, feel free to pop in and check out our bulletin board outside the library and add your “Tree Talk” ideas together
Have fun!
The Jackson Team
